Sophomore Year in Review.

My second year at the University of Cincinnati was a wild and amazing ride! In the Fall Semester, I had the privilege of participating in an Honors Experience that went to Scotland, UK after the course was completed. The course was called Energy, Environment and Society with a focus on energy sustainability, something that I had no experience with. The class taught me so much that I never would have learned in business school and gave me another perspective to look at my future career. The trip to Scotland was also life-changing. I made many friends in engineering and various majors I would have never interacted with if it weren’t for this Honors Seminar. This trip also increased my worldly knowledge, thus enhancing my International Business major. I am extremely grateful for everyone involved in the trip including the professors and other students. They made my first Honors Seminar & international trip unforgettable. In my second semester, Spring of 2024, I participated in my first co-op!

I was hired as a Communications Intern at GE Aerospace for Spring 2024 and asked to return for Summer 2024 after my first month at work. Working for GE Aerospace has been nothing short of an amazing experience! As GE separated into 3 different stand-alone companies there were various once-in-a-career projects, events, and activities that I was able to participate in and support. I helped support our Annual Takeoff Meeting which was broadcast live to over 50,000 employees of GE Aerospace and to other stakeholders as well. Immediately following the Annual Takeoff Meeting, I supported Ready to Soar (RTS). RTS is a massive leadership meeting that brings together the top leaders in GE Aerospace from across the globe. This year at RTS we unveiled our new lean model FLIGHT DECK and announced that GE Aerospace and GE Vernova, the power portion of GE would be separating on April 2, 2024. These two events alone were amazing to be on-site for and allowed me to meet some great people who lived very far away. After these two events, I participated in Launch Day on April 2, 2024. I was able to support our celebrations in Evendale, OH, and New York City, New York via social media and on-the-ground support in Evendale, OH. It was amazing to see everyone excited about this new chapter for the company. We also had a live broadcast go out to 50,000 people that I was able to be featured in. Then after this, I was able to be on-site at an Ohio engine test facility for a new TV commercial that will be broadcast later this year. This experience and the experiences I will have this summer have greatly impacted my professional confidence and have helped me adjust my major/courses to reflect the things I have learned about what I want to do in the future.

My first professional goal I have for this coming year is to acquire another internship. I am so grateful to have worked for GE Aerospace and would like to continue to increase my work experience in business. My second professional goal is to start getting certifications in programs and leadership skills that will enhance my resume. An educational goal I have for this coming year and the years coming is to go on as many study-abroad trips as I can go on. It is a personal passion to travel and will lend legitimacy to my International Business major as well. I hope to make a lot of friendships and professional connections on these trips as well.
